The crew of The Rookie has issued an apology for the abrupt cliffhanger ending to Season 8. Fans had been left in suspense after the last scene cut off. Creator Alexi Hawley said at a fan event that Season 9's opening will be extended above the usual length. Nathan Fillion said that filming for Season Nine gets underway on August 5. Also, a preview of a upcoming scene shot in Chenford was post online ahead of the new season.
