Red Lobster is shutting down 163 of its restaurants. The chain has operated for 58 years. This is part of a bigger wave of closures affecting restaurant chains right now.

A few locations have already been confirmed. The Palm Desert, California store learned about it on a Monday. The Springfield branch is also closing. The company has not released a full list yet, and they still have not said when all the shutdowns will wrap up. The closures were reported on 30 August 2026. Customers across the country are affected.
