Preston North End has fired head coach Paul Heckingbottom. The club made the decision public on Sunday. Preston is sitting in the drop zone of the Championship after losing six of its first seven games in the current league schedule. Heckingbottom was appointed at Preston last year. He had previously managed Sheffield United. The team will be led by a Premier League cult hero as caretaker boss. The decision stems from a difficult beginning to the campaign.
