Origin Energy will compensate thousands of customers throughout Australia up to 60 dollars each per household after an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission investigation into the energy market found its "Ongoing Saver" electricity plan gave misleading savings estimates.
The regulator confirmed customers were deceived about potential savings relative to standard rates as shown in the report.
The total refund amount is 270,000 dollars, which amounts to a significant payout for consumers.
Affected customers will be given payments automatically without submit claims soon.
