Meta has agreed to hand over up to 18 billion US dollars to settle legal cases from US states regarding platform addiction and risks to young users.
The landmark settlement addresses legal claims from California and other states related to adolescent usage issues on platforms owned by the company.
Under the terms of the settlement, Meta also committed to significant reform measures on Facebook and Instagram. The agreement ends active court battles in the United States tied to social media harms to children and teens.
