A beluga whale was relocated from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario to a Chicago aquarium. It died shortly after the move. The move took place before the loss.

Marineland also transferred four dolphins and two belugas to an aquarium in Spain. Now the park no longer houses dolphins. Only belugas stay at the park.
