Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been sent to Geelong, with the deal confirmed on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been long rumoured for the Cats after Essendon placed a high trade value on the defender. Essendon were unwilling to let him go cheaply throughout the trade period.

The finalised deal gives Geelong an reliable defender while Essendon picks up Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is a versatile utility who strengthens the Essendon list heading into the new season.
