George Clooney broke his silence on the death of Presley Gerber, 27, the son of his longtime friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. Clooney described the death "the worst thing that could ever happen," calling it devastating for the family.

Around the same time, Clooney and his wife Amal attended the Albies ceremony. The couple made sure the focus stayed on the award recipients rather than themselves during the night. Observers noted the two were low-key as the ceremony's recipients received recognition.
