Nine crew members from China were taken into custody over illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

Coast guard officers earned an official citation for their work. They had driven away illegal Chinese crab boats there.

In another case, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine was issued because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Authorities say there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. The restriction covers anglers on that water body.
